The Working Principle of Nailfold Capillaroscopy Using Ophthalmoscope
Nailfold capillaroscopy using an ophthalmoscope is a diagnostic technique that uses high-powered magnification to examine the capillaries in the nail bed. The ophthalmoscope is used to illuminate the nail fold, which is then viewed through the magnifying lens. The capillaries can be seen as small, thin lines that run parallel to each other. How to use
1) Fix the screen on the top of the mechanical equipment
2) Plug the power cord and video cable into the base connector.
3) Connect the plug, the plug shows green light. Press the “power” button on the screen, wait for 3 seconds, the screen will light up.
4) Put three drops of oil on the ring finger where the nail crosses the skin. Place the oiled finger in the finger holder. (If cedar oil is not available, use baby oil or olive oil instead)
5) Adjust the coarse handwheel so that when the screen displays an image, then adjust the fine handwheel and the image becomes clearer. The larger one is the coarse adjustment wheel and the smaller one is the fine adjustment handwheel. When the machine is about 2-3cm away from the finger, a clear transparent image will appear on the screen.
6) Then adjust the platform to move the handwheel laterally so that the first line of the blood vessel (capillary) is in the correct position, and then adjust the coarse and fine handwheels so that the blood vessel can be clearly seen. Your finger will move from left to right on the double loading platform. Therefore try to find the first blood vessel by rotating the platform laterally moving the handwheel to change the position of your finger. Finally rotate the fine handwheel (position shown in the structure) to see the vessel clearly.
7) If there are spots on the screen, rotate the camera left and right to remove them.
